Welcoming the 2025 Martingale Scholars: A Landmark Year in Scale and Talent

We are thrilled to have made over 60 Scholarship offers to talented students to study a Masters or PhD at a leading university. This is a record-breaking year for Martingale, welcoming the largest cohort to date.

Martingale is delighted to have made over 60 Scholarship offers for the upcoming academic year. This new cohort of incoming Scholars, which will be the largest in Martingale’s history, includes both Masters and PhD students, who will be pursuing postgraduate degrees at Martingale partner universities in mathematics, statistics, and artificial intelligence.

“We are really thrilled to welcome the next cohort of talented Martingale Scholars, who have successfully applied for some of the world’s most competitive and prestigious programmes.” Matt Garragan, Martingale Programme Manager

To get to this stage, Scholars have undergone a thorough and highly competitive selection process. After applying to Martingale in the autumn, a selection of applicants were invited to Martingale assessment centres in November 2025, including intensive interviews with leading academics from our partner universities. Successful candidates were then invited to submit applications to eligible university courses. Throughout the whole process, candidates have been supported by Martingale, with exclusive webinars, one-to-one application advice and personal statement proofreading.

This year, we launched the PhD Navigator Programme, which provides dedicated support for candidates applying for a PhD Scholarship. In addition to bespoke one-to-one support and training, in areas such as interview technique, the Navigator Programme included an in-person Showcase in December 2025, which gave candidates the opportunity to learn about PhD programmes and network directly with prospective PhD supervisors and current PhD students.

Matt Garraghan, Programme Manager at Martingale, shared “We are really thrilled to welcome the next cohort of talented Martingale Scholars, who have successfully applied for some of the world’s most competitive and prestigious programmes. We can’t wait to work with them as they embark on the next stage of their postgraduate careers at our partner universities. We look forward to welcoming them all at the Martingale Welcome Dinner at the start of their Scholarships in October 2025!”
